Hyderabad movie lovers are in for a massive treat this Sankranthi season. Allu Cinemas is all set to introduce India’s largest Dolby Cinema screen at its upcoming multiplex in Kokapet–Narsingi, and the buzz around this project is already sky-high.
Designed to offer a truly world-class theatrical experience, the Dolby Cinema at Allu Cinemas is expected to set a new benchmark for premium cinema viewing in India.
Allu Cinemas Dolby Cinema Opening Date
As per the latest update, the grand opening is being planned for January 14 or 15, 2026, right on the eve of Sankranthi, making it one of the most awaited theatre launches in recent times.
There were earlier reports about a possible January 9 opening for The Raja Saab, but that now looks highly unlikely. The main entrance works are still pending and are expected to take another 1–2 weeks, leaving very little chance for an early launch.
Screen & Projection Details
What makes Allu Cinemas truly special is the sheer scale of its Dolby Cinema screen.
Screen Size: Approx. 78 × 42 ft (around 75 ft wide)
Aspect Ratio: DCI Flat (1.85:1)
Projection: Dolby Vision with support for Dolby 3D
Dolby Vision delivers 500x higher contrast and nearly 2x brightness compared to standard cinema projection, ensuring deeper blacks, richer colours, and exceptional clarity.
Sound Details
Sound is handled by Dolby Atmos, offering a studio-grade audio setup with object-based sound placement. From subtle background details to powerful action sequences, the sound experience is expected to be nothing short of spectacular.
Seating & Auditorium Design
Unlike regular theatres, Dolby Cinema is a completely purpose-built format. The Allu Cinemas auditorium will feature:
- Pitch-black interiors to eliminate reflections
- Stadium-style seating for perfect viewing angles
- Premium reclining seats
- Distraction-free design focused entirely on the screen
This combination ensures a highly immersive and comfortable movie-watching experience.
Dolby Cinema Presence in India
As of January 2026, Dolby Cinema remains a rare premium format in India.
- City Pride – Operational
- AMB Cinemas, Bengaluru – Opening very soon
- Allu Cinemas, Hyderabad – Opening mid-January 2026
- LA Cinema – Opening soon
- EVM Cinemas – Opening soon
- G Cineplex – Opening soon
Currently, City Pride Pune is the only fully operational Dolby Cinema, making the Hyderabad launch even more significant.
Why This Is a Big Deal for Hyderabad
With Allu Cinemas Dolby Cinema, Hyderabad is getting:
India’s largest Dolby Cinema screen
Dolby Vision + Dolby Atmos combination
A premium format built from scratch, not a retrofit
A festive Sankranthi launch, when big films dominate the box office
For cinema enthusiasts, this could easily become the top premium screen in the city, alongside legendary names like Prasads PCX.
